Wednesday, July 18, 2012 - Just after 10:30 pm, Rescue 5-7 was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment for a barn fire at 417 Rawlinsville Road assisting West Willow FC (60). Chief 60 (Jason Topper) arrived with a working fire in a arch roof barn. Initial crews stretched several lines inside, containing the fire to a large pile of round hay bales.
Rescue 5-7 arrived with the crew carrying all of the Rapid Intervention Equipment up the long (1500+ feet) driveway and setting up the RIT. Once the fire was contained and knocked down, the Rescue was moved up the driveway to provide lighting. The Crew assisted with various fireground tasks.
Tanker 5-7 was due on the second alarm and hauled several loads of water into the scene.
Members were in service for appx. 4 hours and 45 minutes, getting back to bed by 3:30 am. Of course, we had to be back up for the chicken bbq by 6:30 am.
