This month QFD members are training on rope rescue and equipment. In recent years, we have paired down our cache of rope equipment and purchased some new hardware (MPD’s) to make the job easier. Rope rescues are a low frequency / high risk event and require special training and equipment to perform.
Tonight, Captain Andrew Lavin and Lt. JC Woerth led the group in using Truck 57 as a high point anchor to remove a victim from a roof. Using a SKED, MPD’s and some new rope, the crews lowered the victim and then did several raise / lower scenarios to get acquainted with the new hardware.
Thanks to everyone who attended.
