This Sunday, Donnie Roop and his wife Robin will be moving from Quarryville to North Carolina. Donnie has been one of the most active members of the Company for the last 29 years, with his son Steven following in his footsteps, and his wife Robin and daughter Aubrey joining the Special Division.
Donnie started as a firefighter with no experience and no training, just a desire to serve. Since that time, he worked his way up through the ranks from Lieutenant to Captain. It seemed that Donnie always “caught the fires”. Do to some health issues, Donnie has not ridden a fire truck for about 5 years, but he still remains active helping the Company any way he can, especially with the new members.
On Tuesday evening before Company rig/equipment maintenance night, we had a get together to wish Donnie and his family well in their next adventure in life. Over 40 members were there, which speaks at how Donnie has been a big part in everyone’s life at QFD.
We all wish Donnie and Robin good luck, and look forward to his returns and visits. Once a Quarryville Firefighter, Always a Quarryville Firefighter!
