pEvery few months the QFD Training Committee plans some quotscenario basedquot drills for the company.nbsp These drills are planned and put together by the training committee and the topics are not announced to the members until the night of the drill.nbsp This makes the training more realistic and spontaneous.ppOn Tuesday evening the training was focused on heavy largenbspvehicle rescue.nbsp We are very fortunate to have a great working relationship with Nulls Towing from Cochranville.nbsp Nulls set up the drill tonight bringing all of the vehicles and their expertise.nbspppThe scenario was a four-door passenger car with an under-ride under the back of a school bus.nbsp A ten-wheel truck then was placed in an over-ride position on top of the car.nbsp Two victims training dummies were pinned in the front seats of the passenger car.ppQFD units left the station and arrived like a normal scene.nbsp Lt. Henry on Rescue 57 gave the size up to Chief 57 and along with other arriving officers came up with a rescue plan.nbsp Crews stabilized the rig bus and car and called for Nulls Towing to further secure and move the large vehicles.nbsp The large vehicles were secured andor moved using Nulls quotSwinging Starquot.nbsp Once this was done members cut and pried open the passenger car taking off doors cutting the roof and jacking or pushing the dash board to remove both trapped occupants.nbsp It took approximately 45 minutes for this to be accomplished.ppThroughout the evening Dain and Latta Null gave helpful tips and tactics that we can use to stabilize or move vehicles prior to their arrival.nbsp They also showed proper chain hook up and attachment areas on the vehicles.nbsp The knowledge that this family of wreckers has is incredible.ppAfter the rescue portion of the night was finished Nulls demonstrated what can be done with one of their tow rigs lifting the bus and truck and pulling the car out from under both.nbspppThanks to Nulls Towing for coming out and helping to provide this quality training.nbsp Thanks also to Brad Groff for allowing us use of the stone lot where we trained.pp29 QFD members trained for 3 hours.p
