For about the last 20 years, a Saturday in February has been reserved for our apparatus maintenance day. Today, Chief Engineer Weicksel and his engineering team prepared and executed another successful and fun day of work.
Some of the things we accomplish are: engine filter changes, oil changes (if needed, we test our oil annually to cut down on unnecessary changes), transmission service, chassis greasing, new wiper blades, generator service, tire checks and cleaning and minor detailing. This year we also swapped out all the SCBA (air pack) batteries and did some other tasks.
We normally always find minor (or major) issues that need addressed to help keep our apparatus functioning and performing properly. This also saves the company a lot of money and apparatus out of service time. Plus, we have a great time doing it.
Thanks to all of the members that helped, and especially to the QFD Special Division for making breakfast and lunch.
One team working together for our community.
