Round 2
At 8:21 pm Sunday evening, QFD was again alerted to Frey’s Mulch for a fire in the mulch pile that we were previously at. @Robert Fulton Fire Company and Bart Township Fire Company tankers were alerted to assist. Units set up with master streams and the ladder pipe from Truck 57 to dump as much water as possible while heavy equipment continued to root out veins and pockets of fire.
Fires in any type of pile (mulch, sawdust, feed or other ag products) are hard to extinguish due to the shear size of the pile of product, access, availability of equipment and extent of the fire. Fires like this are just a tough and dirty part of the job.
Crews remained on scene until 10:15 pm.
