pDuring the last week 14 QFD members took part in a Pump Operations I class put on at Station 57 by the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center. Our lead instructor was Josh Hummel with help provided by Instructor Dave Gribble.ppThe class centered on the ability of a driveroperator to be able to draft receive water from a supplied water source hydrant and to charge one line for fire attack or supply.nbsp During the class we spent time on pump construction friction loss appliance and nozzle pressures gallon per minute flows and many other topics.nbsp On Saturday the crew went to the North Church Street Dry Hydrant and set up Engine 572 and 574 for the day of practical applications.nbspppThe class was a complete success with veteran operators refreshing skills new operators learning new skills and everyone coming away with a better knowledge of pump operations and a few new quottricks of the tradequot.ppThanks to the LCPSTC and Instructors Hummel and Gribble for the great class and thanks to all of the members that took part in the class.ppQFD will be hosting another Pump I class in March 2014 along with an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course EVOC in March 2014 and Pump Operations II in May 2014.ppnbspp
