At 9:08 pm Wednesday evening, QFD was alerted to assist the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company with a building fire at Beiler’s Sawmill, 921 Lancaster Pike in Providence Township. On response, units were advised of multiple calls received indicating a working fire.
Crews from 58 arrived with a large one-story ,metal, frame building with fire throughout and multiple exposures.
Truck 57 set up for master stream operations while Engine 574 deployed several handlines to protect exposures and for fire attack. Tanker 57 set up the initial nurse-tanker operation to supply the scene, which eventually expanded to a dump tank operation and 17 tankers. The remainder of the QFD units (Engine 572
and Rescue 57) assisted with manpower. QFD Fire Police assisted with traffic control in the area.
Units cleared the scene at approximately 2 am, with another hour + of cleanup, with most members only getting a quick nap before heading to work in the morning.
