pJust before 7 am Rescue 57 and Engine 572 were alerted to assist the Robert Fulton FC 89 on a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer a car and a truck.nbsp 89 units were on the scene with a loaded tanker trailer hauling appx. 7500 gallons of diesel fuelnbspon its side leaking.nbsp QFD units arrived and were assigned to assist on spill control operations.ppRescue 57s crew went downhill from the scene and firmed up the initial spill control materials that were put down and also directed the Fulton Township backhoe to dig a containment trench to stop the flow of diesel towards a nearby stream.nbspppShortly after arrival Engine 572 was sent to Station 89 to stand by.nbsp Crews continued to monitor the spill and assist the various environmental clean up companies on the scene.nbspppLancaster County Haz Mat 2 arrived and began an off-load operation in which the Rescue crew supplied a foam line.nbsp Several holes were drilled in the trailer to allow the off-load of fuel.nbsp The fuel oil company arrived with a truck and large pump which allowed the unloading of approximately 5700 gallons of fuel.nbspppAfter the fuel was unloaded Nulls Towing up-righted and removed the vehicle.nbsp It is estimated that the clean up companies will be on the scene for up to 2 days.ppQFD units operated at the scene or at stand by for over 6.5 hours.nbsp The crew from Engine 572 also assisted in cooking meals for the operating crews.nbsp Thanks to all who responded.nbsp Thanks also to Tom Amico for the pictures.p
