At 12:15 pm Friday April 28th, QFD and mutual aid were dispatched to the 367 Sproul Road in Colerain Township for a house fire. Engine 574 arrived with a two-story dwelling with heavy smoke showing and a well advanced basement fire with extension to the first floor.
The crew from Engine 574 deployed a line to the basement while the crew from Truck 57 laddered the building and began searches. Engine 512 stretched an additional line to the first floor to handle fire extension. Tanker 57 had the water supply to Engine 574. QFD Fire Police assisted with traffic detours and closing the roadways in the area.
Remaining mutual aid units assisted with fire attack, overhaul, water supply and RIT. The fire was knocked down quickly, searches were negative and there was only one minor injury (civilian). Crews operated for several hours. The cause of the fire is accidental.
Thanks to all responding mutual aid fire and EMS units, and to the stand by companies. Thanks also to the QFD Special Division for supplying refreshments, and to Tom Amico for the photos.
